Story: I am beyond disappointed 😡 I am searching for answers 🙏🏽 One of our popular Charlotte Airbnb properties has experienced vehicle burglaries on a consistent basis. We have called and visited the police station multiple times, so law enforcement is fully aware of what has been happening at this property. We purchased this property in 2022 and did a complete renovation. We’ve had absolutely no issues with break-ins until this summer. One individual began repeatedly breaking into vehicles, and when those incidents finally stopped, a different individual has started doing the same thing. The other night, this same individual jumped the fence and scoped out our backyard. Then, this morning at exactly 6:08 a.m., someone was actively breaking into one of our guest’s vehicles. His body was literally halfway inside the car window, and he was using a flashlight to search through the guest’s personal belongings. While the burglary was in progress, a police vehicle drove directly past the individual, stopped at the stop sign immediately in front of our property, and then continued driving. How could the officer not see what was happening? 🤨 He/She drove by, stopped directly in front of the property, and kept going while someone was halfway inside a car with a flashlight. The criminal even saw the police‼️ What happens if a guest walks outside and comes face-to-face with the person committing the burglary? We have called. We have filed reports. We have visited the police station multiple times. Yet, these incidents continue and this morning, the police literally drove past a burglary in progress of a property that they’re supposed to be keeping a close eye on. What do we do next⁉️ Who do we contact⁉️ Is there a specific division, city official, community organization, or other resource that can help us protect our guests and property before someone gets hurt⁉️ Any advice, resources, or contacts would be greatly appreciated.
