
Brooklyn: 11th Avenue & 58th Street, a child’s life was saved thanks to the lightning-fast response of Hatzalah EMTs. A terrifying scene unfolded on Sunday when a frantic mother ran into the street carrying her choking child, begging anyone nearby for help as the child was choking and struggled to breathe. Bystanders immediately rushed to assist. One person took the child and attempted to help while another quickly called Hatzalah EMS. In less than 30 seconds, an EMT was already on scene and immediately began performing the Heimlich maneuver, working quickly to clear the child’s airway. Within moments, the obstruction was dislodged and the child was able to breathe again. The child was transported to the hospital and is expected to be okay, turning what began as a moment of sheer panic into a lifesaving rescue.
