The healing process is never easy—nobody ever said it would be. There was a time when I gave up. I didn’t want to talk to her, didn’t want to try to fix things, and didn’t see a way forward. But this year, something changed. I realized she deserves another chance. Now, I’m putting in the effort to build the relationship we never had.

When someone is fighting to stay sober and dealing with the absence of the substances they relied on, it can cause them to act out. Patience, understanding, and commitment are key, and I’m choosing to approach this with an open heart.
